We haven't had a "post a pic of you or your house" thread in awhile, so I thought I'd start a new one.

Mostly, it's an excuse to show off my new (to me!) vintage dress and my tiki bar!

Taken last week - click thumbnail for larger view:

(eek! It's time for a HAIR CUT! And a DIET! Y'all are the ONLY folks I'd show these to!)

We REALLY gotta fine some vintage curtains that will go on that HUGE window! I LOVE all the light - but sometimes it's TOO MUCH! And I'm almost done paying off the matching bamboo china hutch that will go behind the bar soon! I'm excited!
(and please ignore the paper towel on the ground - DD was doing her school Mission project on the bar and that's part of the unseen aftermath!)

Now -- show me some of YOUR vintage in action!

Wow!! Your hair has gotten long! I LOVE the green walls and the cool tiki bar! Fabbo fabric on those seats! You look great.

Did you get those wedges at PayLess? I have the very same ones in brown!? Whoa. Did you and I already have this conversation? I think I'm having deja vu about the wedges ... :duh:

No piccies of me at the moment, maybe later...

Jen

Jen -- I think we DID have that conversation, and I DID get those at Payless.
I'm thinking I need to go back and get about 5 more pairs to last me until the day that I can find another wearable espadrille! It's taken me THIS long to find just the one!
And - I've been meaning to go seek out the brown ones...

My house is SO obnoxiously colored! LOL! I'm getting ready to paint my bedroom walls a pale icy lavender -- and I'm putting BRIGHT sunny yellow curtains up! :D

Some of you have seen this, but here's my new dining room set (new=70s)

LOVE that dining table! DH is so weird about "mixing eras". Boo.
We're talking about making a built-in bench seating for our eat-in kitchen. And maybe find an old Formica topped diner table or just a regular Formica & chrome dinette. Plus, they tend to be cheaper when there's only one or two chairs and that's all we'd need.

Anyone else???

Kristine, your tiki bar looks so great with the green walls
and those stools (the hot babe in the pic looks pretty good
too! :D )

Ang, $40.00 for that bar set is wonderful! I have a shorter
pair of curtains that look (I'm pretty sure) the same as your
drapes. Will have to dig them out.

No pics here. Until I diet vintage is too tight a fit. I do have a couple of vintage decor items that I will try and take pics of.

Sue

Oh man, Ang, and there's a cool little white chair with your full-sized cool white chair! Kristine, you look FABULOUS!!

I might have a vintage blender, but don't have much in the way of vintage surroundings. My closet is another matter...

Kristine, I love the tiki bar and the green! And Ang, I love those curtains and table and chairs!

Here is my kitchen I painted last year with what looks like the same green and some vintage stuff laying around.

Sure wish it was as clean as that now!

Linda - I LOVE that green! Yours is much more "fresh" than my green. Mine is called "Asparagus Green" and has more muddy undertones.

I love your stove and all the vintage goodies! Our kitchen was redone a year before we moved here, so it's all new. Blah. We have a 1950 O'Keefe & Merrit Stove but it won't fit in the space :(

Jonathan - you have such a knack!

And I would KILL for that built in bookcase! DH is supposed to build one for me... but now I don't know where we could possible PUT it! Now I'm thinking I should just have him make a single row shelf all the way 'round the living room. And maybe also our bedroom. There's just no more room!

Your very lovely & grown-up home makes me feel like I decorate like a teenager! LOL! But that's ok. I like kitsch. I've come to terms with it ;)

Some of you have already seen my house pics, so I apologize for that.

Here's our den. Rug from eBay, chintz sofa was $75 at a tag sale!

It was a pain in the arse painting the insides of the bookcases but I'm so glad we did, it shows off my Harlequin pottery nicely.

Dining Room: Pottery Barn table and pendant lights from eBay, $35 floral chair from a junk shop, $50 love seat from a yard sale, I think I paid around $150 for the cabinet at an auction...

On the opposite wall is a fireplace surround that we found in a salvage place, but most visitors think it is a real fireplace. Painted firescreen is an auction win, probably a repro but I really like it. The mantel is sporting part of my collection of Harlequin gravy boats (similar to Fiesta, same maker, Homer Laughlin), and the painting above it is a treasured possession, a watercolor my Mom painted of the house I grew up in.

Living room - our home is circa 1790 and we restored this fireplace wall back to something close to its original condition. It has 3 sugar cabinets and a hidden door in the paneling.

The kitchen is badly in need of an overhaul, but at least we already have the fridge of our dreams... and yes, we got it on eBay! :drinkingtoast:

I think it's really funny how many of us have brightly colored retro kitchenware and green walls!! :cool2:

oh man... you guys are killing me- i miss my house!! love love LOVE all the punchy wall colors! and you all have exquisite taste in lamps, btw. i'm currently living in an eensy weensy apartment that is proving difficult to do much of anything with.

BUT- i do get to have my kicks at work! i'm the manager of a cold war era submarine exhibit, and one of my "jobs" is to retro fit her with everything i can find to make it look like the sailors just sort of got up and walked out one day. and the best part is- i don't have to pay for any of it! wheeee!!
