Silk dress with inside waist band 40s/50s?

Sorry for poor photos, I found this online but as I can't link I can only give you copies. You can't see on the picture but there is a 6" slit at the back of the skirt and each cuff fastens with four poppers. It was listed as unbranded without care labels but what caught my attention was that the description stated it had a band on the lining that has to be fastened with a hook and eye before you can do up the zip.
This made me think of the patterned shift dress that was posted not long ago with an inside waist band and identified as 50's. However the style of the top and long sleeves I feel is fitting more in the 40's, though I don't know if they would have had such a large bow on the back then.
Would you think this style would fit with this dating? was the inside waist band used in other periods?

Not sure, but I see 50s in this dress somehow.

A waist band (or waist stay as someone here explained on one of the first replies I ever got on this forum) is to my experience not a sign of a certain era, but something you'd find in a well-made, high-quality garment. I have that feature in a 50s cocktail dress, a 70s evening dress (both probably made by a seamstress) and I had a high quality French cocktail dress by Isabelle Allard from the 80s that had it too.

Karin

I agree with Karin that a waist tape is a sign of quality, not any era (although we don't see them much any more). You do up the waist tape before doing up the zipper, it helps the dress sit correctly and takes the weight off the zipper.

I agree with Karin that your dress is '50s, I would date as late '50s perhaps into the early '60s a bit. It looks like it's a nice Chinoise silk brocade.

I agree with Nicole and Karin. The dress looks to be mid 50's to early 60's to me. I've had many, many of these asian cocktail dresses from this era and they can vary greatly in quality. This fabric is lovely and reminds me of a few of the nicer dresses of this type that I've had. The long sleeves are a new one for me though. I'm thinking with the button cuffs and the big bow in the back that it may be a bridesmaid dress. Is it a mint green?

No it's described as grey though I think the green floral leaves are reflecting in it a bit!

Thanks guys this has really helped me, I'm going to buy it and let you see some better photos!

By the measurements given it will fit me except for the sleeves (my arms are quite long so I suspect the cuffs won't do up or I won't get into them fully) so it may yet become 3/4 sleeved...

The bow at the back looks a bit creased what would you recommend for a first fix?
