Silver shoes from 1946?

I picked these up the other day and there's part of a note tucked into one toe, stating that the author "....had no money to buy white satin shoes.... I wore these silver shoes July 15, 1946."
I'm assuming she wore these for her wedding in lieu of white satin. I wish these fit me, because, if these are indeed the shoes the note went with originally, this woman obviously cared enough about them to give their history. I find it touching, and the note a
neat bit of history. Wish the rest of it was with these.

Anyway, do these look like 1940's shoes? I am not versed in shoes that old, so if they aren't, I wouldn't know the difference! They're a silver lame' with the name "Richmond's Designer Collection" on the insole.

I'm not sure. From first glance I would have put them as later, but am not a Shoe Person. Your pictures are great though, and how lovely to find a note :) (aside - I wish I'd worn sparkly silver shoes to my wedding, what a good idea! My stained satin ballerina pumps would just have a note in saying 'my mother bought these and sewed some ribbon on for me at the last minute as I'd forgotten about shoes'. But at least i was laid back about the whole thing, LOL!)

Well, you are both echoing my thoughts--that these are later than 40's. I thought perhaps that the note got misplaced from its original shoes and tucked in these because somebody didn't know where else to put it.... Hopefully somebody can enlighten us more!

Harriett, love your wedding-shoe story!!! Your mom saved the day, and great that you were laid back about it. I'd have had a nervous breakdown....

I was also thinking later, perhaps '60s. Have you looked at Jonathan's shoe article to see if you can glean any info?

Those are 60s shoes all right - the shape of the heel, the toe, the vamp, the type of silver finish I think you are right about the note getting misplaced
