Site search box?? can anyone help please...

CAn anyone help me ?? Any techies out there??

l am wanting to add a search box to my site (amongst other things!) to search my site, not the net....
l would prefer NOt to do bravenet or other, but willl do so if l cannot find other...
I work mainly with Dreamweaver MX which is a new version and now l am lost...l need to do a dreamweaver course really....l also ahve frontpage for odd functions..
l think it would be a real asset to the site, l dont know why l ahvent thought about this before, it just occurred to me suddenly yesterday....weird or wot??

any thoughts, ideas or techies, to tlak me through??

Google has a search box for people to use and you can indicate search the site or search the net.

I also know of picosearch. they offer a free search box, but on the "results" page there will be a few sponsor ads

You can opt out of the ads though for a fee. The fee may seem high but if it increases your revenue because people can find what they want, then it might be worth it

You not the only one, I have been looking for well over 2 years for a good one. If use Google and type "free site search scripts" comes up with a few hits, but often you can waist a lot of time trying to get things to work, As a general tip If you are looking for any thing to do with web programing good words to use with searches are "free" and "script" I not to my cost unfortunately.
The ones that I did use often record what people searched for:- you would be surprises at the words used, I knew what they had not change of finding anything relevant like yourself you know those words are not on the Web site.
I will let you know if or when I find a good one, The better ones will be writhen in php and not html so that could be a problem.
Sorry I have not been so helpfully as I wish.
It's an ongoing project for me also so I will let you know when I came up with any thing good
