Sizes in Australia?

I have an inquiry from a person wondering if a US size 10/12 (It is a wrap coat, thus the variation in size) is the same in Australia.
I will email her and explain how to measure a coat she likes, then compare with the coat in which she is interested. But is there a difference in sizes?
