Slick City Tweeds of the 1960\'s
Tweed has come a very long way since the dun-coloured, baggy, saggy suits which used to be such a big part of British country living. As you can see from these images (taken over 40 years ago), tweed was becoming more fashionable in the late 1960's with soft shaping and sophisticated styling.
The 60's is perhaps my favourite fashion decade and here's just a few examples of why I love this era so much. Check out the fabulous styling of these shots. Unlike so many modern photo images, you can actually see how beautifully the clothes are presented to the reader. Hope you enjoy them too.
1) Big autumn-leaf checks on coat by Roger Nelson at Reldan. Man wears russet tweet jacket £18 by Aquascutum.
2) Zig-zag patterns up and down a narrow town coat by Harvey Gould.
3) Brown, beige & grey tweed coat that's checked & striped by Bob Schulz.
4) Beige & brown stripes on a belted coat by Cojana £33.
1) Crunchy beige & brown tweed suit with skinny dark brown knitted sleeves & pocket tops by Strelitz £14.
2) Green & grey tweed suit with horizontal-striped skirt & scarf by Mansfield, £18. Man wears tweed jacket, trousers and pure silk shirt, all made to order at Blades, Burlington Gardens.
3) Herringbone coat with brown buckled belt by Sheraton, £12.
