So, what cha\' doin tonight?

We're staying home and my 15 yo daughter is having friends over. I'm pretty sure they're planning to have fun "dressing up" with some of my stock~ Better put the delicates away for now ;)
 
Family party - lots of food, wine, champagne, annual NY Eve hockey game on TV with our city's rivals, watch the ball drop, kisses all around.

It's now New Year's Day but here's what I did last night - after working in the shop all day I was tired and not up for much more excitement so we went to have dinner at our favourite Italian restaurant, but they were closed - so we went and saw a French film "I've loved you so long" which was great, but sad so after that we found another Italian restaurant that was open, had dinner and went home - that was about it! A nice, quietish night.

We had a change of plans~ or rather my daughter did. The party was moved to her friends house (yay!). So here I sit watching VH1 100 greatest hard rock songs - yeah, I'm a head banger from way back:headbang: - drinking a cold beer in a relatively quiet house - Life is good!
 
We watched the majority of Elf as a family, until we realized that the extra bit of wrestling on USA that was on before it shifted the DVR time and it stopped before Buddy got Santa out of Central Park. Good thing they're showing it all day tomorrow!
 
We stayed home.
Me, Rob, Gwyn (10), Makaio (7-Gwyn's little brother from babymama's)
Best friend, her hubby, Ava (almost 4)
Neighbor & wife & their baby (2 1/2)

So we had a house full of kids - lots of drawing, playing on instruments, running around. Lots of finger foods.
Makaio's stubborn loose tooth came out.

Just before midnight we gave all the kids plastic spoons & pots or pan lids & took them out to the curb to noisily ring in the New Year, just like we used to do when I was a kid.

Amazingly, no one came out to yell at us ;)

What happened to the days when entire neighborhoods would do this? *sigh*

Afterward we let each of the kids take a heaping spoonful of cookie dough :)

I actually stayed up until about 2am - it's been a LONG time since I did that!

Also amazingly, I didn't drink too much (not much at all, actually!) & am feeling quite fine today :)
