So will YOU be in vintage on Christmas day?

I always use Christmas as an excuse to get dolled up and go visiting in a vintage outfit (I don't get out much otherwise, except to the pub and that's just flared jeans and a 70s top!) so have been thinking about my outfit for Monday.

I have a few choices, and will make sure to post a picture of my chosen one!

For those that celebrate, does anyone else get out their vintage finery or is it comfortable clothes to accomodate the turkey? (I will of course be in something loose in the waistband later on I'm sure...)
Is it just me that relishes the excuse to dress up?

well i will prob... be in my very own vintage AC/DC t shirt....1979.. highway to hell tour.....

well worn... loads of holes..... but hay its sentimental value.........:headbang::headbang::headbang:

its a slob out day for us......no family..... as my parents are going away for christmas...... so christmas eve....close doors and thats it christmas offficially starts.....

so i supose in a way yes i wil be wearing vintage/retro.... this christmas....:snowman:

To try to keep in the spirit of "vintage", I will try, Harriet, to wear something vintage. Usually I am in the kitchen from sunup to sundown and even though it is cold outside, it is hot and steamy in the kitchen. I usually end of wearing the coolest thing possible..jeans and a short sleeve shirt. However, I will try to add a vintage brooch or pin to my attire.:D Oh, and a vintage apron...

I would love to see your outfit!

I'm wearing vintage <a href="http://www.babylonmall.com/browseshop.php?storenum=248&user=916&itemnum=28049&previewpage=item">dress</a> that I got from Babylon Mall the other week :)
Have some seamed stockings to wear with it, my vintage 50's stilettos and my crinoline and I'm ready to go! :D

l will at the very least wear my peggy french cocktail/evening coat in teal!! and perhaps l will weara party dress underneath!!..mon brave!!! and ignore the aghast looks of astonishment on faces of my dour scots inlaws and others.. when we visit late morning....my good deed of the day PaH!! they will only think l'm attention seeking and so ignore me as per usual....
l shall ask Susannah to take pics and will post , if they come out ok!!

I will be donning my vintage 1999 girdle from my wedding (suck it in sister!) and putting on a vintage 1940ish crepe dress with lavender insets and beading. Thanks to this week's food poisoning and mass purge incident, I'm feeling a touch slimmer, thanks!
The girdle should help me maintain that upright gut in position for choir singing, too. Luckily I'm singing with the tenor section (yeah, so I have a low voice) so my high heels won't lead me to block anyone's view of the tiny choir director.

I'll post images.....oh crud. What to do to my hair?

Oh, I hope it's colder than an SOB so I can wear my wooly and mink car coat.....oh, need to figure my purse out.....aaaaaaaaa!!!

I will be in vintage too this year, this number on Chirstmas Day: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230043329620 , along with a pair of 80's does 50's NOS peeptoes from a few years back and a lovely 1940's big sleeved red dress on Christmas Eve with a pair of black 50's heels. In fact, it is going to be a very vintage Christmas because when I get up on Christmas morning I will be wearing one of my 1940's robes, my earrings on Christmas Eve will be 40's rhinestone numbers and on Christmas Day Edwardian crystal drops. I might even stretch to a 40's suit for Boxing day, but perhaps by then I'll be ready for the comfy clothes!

Emma.

If its in the high 70s or higher, I'll be in a pair of Dr Scholls wooden mules - the kind that they had in the 70s , but made again a few years ago, a pair of 50s tiki shorts that are actually supposed to be men's but are too small for most guys these days, a 1940s silver tiki head bracelet and a modern, circa 2005 black t shirt. Ha ha ha.

If the weather turns out to be in the low 60s or below i will put on my 50s/60s cusper cashmere coat my husband bought me last christmas. Not that i need t but at least the weather is bearable enough to wear it without roasting. Or i will wear a 40s post war blazer with jeans.

Well, since I'm still in my jammies, and haven't even thought about what to wear, I'm not sure! But, after the ham is in the oven and the potatoes scrubbed, I may don a gold lame sweater (50's/60's style), throw my big-beaded vintage gold necklace and earrings on, and hang out around the house in those (well, along with some sort of slacks, of course....).

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays to All!

I hope that some photos will be posted! I just so like reading what has or is been worn and seeing seeing it also.

well here l am...all dressed up for christmas day...for cooking and the visiting in-laws....l had to get changed into something let restricting after the meal however and came down in a LBD...my husband asked..' going to a funeral are we?'..luckily l didnt bite and we had a lovely day all round....hope you all did too!!!

the coat is a 'Peggy French Couture' feels like raw silk...dunno that it is but it feels great and l wore it to the Philip Treacy/ Isabella Blow exhibition ( l must post the pics to that)....the dres shas no label, is a mettallic look VERY fitted number that has been on the attic all year...and it now fits the new slimmmer me!! so l'm keeping them both...so hopefully l will be able to wear the dress without the Spanx knickers in the near future...!!

lets see other pics of us here!!!!

p.s the bag is one of my favourites, it doesnt really go, but hellfire, needed an excuse to get it out of its glass cabinet...its an early handpainted Waldybag, the ones l try without much luck source.....painted with paint and crushed galss so when phtotgraphed or in night lights it glistens and gleams...

Wow Sara, you look gorgeous! That colour is lovely - Peggy French stuff is very nicely made. Love the bag too...

I failed miserably as I was feeling rather rough on Christmas morning - NOT simply down to too much Chrismas eve sherry but I think my flueyness had subsided only temporarily to return on Christmas day tinged with a very slight hang over.. I went for comfort!

Kind of vintage though, as when christmas shopping I had picked up a Celia Birtwell for topshop dress so I wore that as it was comfy! Have pics but haven't downloaded them yet.

Wow! Sarah you look very nice with vintage . If this is not a advert for wearing vintage then there cannot be one at all.
