Speaking of looms... material on material in the 1880s

Harriet, my memory has been jogged again and my curiosity has been piqued - my great grandfather was known as a master weaver and was sent here from England by DomFile (formerly Dominion Textiles and perhaps another name prior to that...) to set up shop here in 1880 (around Canada's Industrial Revolution). Can anyone suggest some reading material about the manufacturing and types of material during that time?

I have a textiles and dying book written for the trade from the late Victorian era that I bought cheap on Ebay. It's wonderful! Unfortunately everything I own is packed so I can't find it right now to get the title. I would suggest checking out the antiquarian books category on Ebay, with keywords like "fabric" or "textiles" to see what you can find. Maybe set up a saved search, so you will be emailed on anything that comes up. I find that original source documents are often more informative than modern day materials. --Cheri
