My St. Michael shirt, from 1956 (I have actually re-instated 8 original tucks around the waist since this photo was taken, it is much more nipped in now)

Close, but no cigar. :cool: The direction of the stripes in every panel matches perfectly, but my shirt doesn't have the yoke in the back, nor it is long enough to cover your backside, unless Ann Talbot was very petite indeed.
Incidentally I tried to look her up but she doesn't seem to be on the web, despite having been a successful actress for most of her career.

btw I think the cut of these sleeves is fab, but do you know what this technique is called?:

I call it a square inset armhole or armseye. The latter is more of a dressmaking term and may not be known generally. I love striped shirts. They always look crisp and fresh.

My shirt is actually a mocha brown and white stripes, but saying that for all I know the one on the magazine cover could be blue and white - that's limited printing colours for you. :)

Marion I'm always interested in new dressmaking terms so thank you for telling me that one, it sounds pretty good too. I love the way this cut looks from the side:
