stain removal advice

Hi all,
I am new to this site.
I am looking for a bit of advice on stain removal on vintage clothes.
I have bought a vintage (1950's) cotton dress. It has a brown stain/mark around the hem. It my be dirt from storage?
Could anyone give me some advise on stain removal.
