Stained YSL rive gauche blouse

Hello everyone,
I found a YSL rive gauche blouse at a garage sale this weekend. The blouse is very well tailored and is peach in color. It is made of 100%silk. However it has yellow stains all over it and practically unusable because of these stains. Do you think I could dye it to a darker color? Can silk be re-dyed? Or any way or removing really heavy duty stains?
Thanks,
CV

silk can be dyed in a cold water dye, but ookoo is right, the stains will show through. You can try various things to remove the stains - it would help if you knew, or could guess, what they were. DO NOT use a biological (enzyme) soak like biotex on silk. What does the garment care label say? Does it say handwash, or only dry clean?

Thanks Ookoo and Golden Age..It says dry clean only.. I am not sure what those stains are. If I had to hazard a guess, I would say yellow dye..

Dye is a difficult stain I believe. And any stain that's been there a long time is harder to remove.

If it's unusable anyway, you could risk soaking it, even if dryclean only. It may be that it has a finish that shouldn't be washed, or it may be YSL being prissy. If you do want to risk it, cold or cool wash/soak, no heat. I've been reading a lot about baking soda for stain removal, and it's gentle.

If you can get them to almost unnoticeable, then it's possible it will be improved by dying a darker colour. The other issue with dying is what the thread is made of, if it's say nylon or polyester, you could end up with dark shirt and light top-stitching, as it won't take the dye.

It sounds like a lot of work!

also with dying... the only way to do that sucessfully is to strip ALL the color out...

there used to be some experts (as it is a fine art) that could dye anything but it is an art long lost as clothes are so cheap and replacable now....

if yoju have tried everything else... though its silk.... you might try and gentle bleach the whole shirt and if the stains are ligthened enough you can dye the WHOLE garment. other than that nothing you can do.....

but... if you didnt pay much then sometimes the experience of trying is worth a failure... Im getting ready to oxy a lot of stuff that i have... I've already made my investment back do if even a few pieces come out alright then it is worth it... had some great experience with Oxy believe it or not...

havent tried on silk yet... did good with poly cotton and rayon.. the rayon does shrink a little, and well if the cotton had any driy rot going on or mildew it ate a skirt up... but in a wiered pattern. Still trying to determin if it was just the condition of the cotton or a reaction to the dyes/print on the skirt....

so good luck with that and I hope that helps.
