I don't know if this is really as complicated as it looks, but I'd love to know how to do it. I repair so many vents that have torn here.
They are called arrowhead tacks, and are relatively easy to do. Finding the right color embroidery thread or yarn my be the most difficult part. Most embroidery books have directions.

The arrowhead tacks I have seen previously were not interwoven like this one is, which seems constructed purposefully to keep two seperate pieces of the garment pattern together, but yes it is in that realm for sure.
My older clothing construction books that have directions for arrowhead tacks usually include this variation. Sorry, the books are in another building and it is snowing outside. I will look when I get the courage to go across the driveway! But I found directions for one online. Just make the "legs" longer. http://buzzybeesworld.blogspot.com/2012/03/tricks-of-trade-arrowhead-tacks.html
