Hello,

Is it safe to use a steamer to dewrinkle a vintage dress which I believe is made of polyester and tulle? It’s a Lorrie Deb dress and in very good condition. I just don’t want to do anything that could cause damage.

I’ve attached pictures. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi Rachel! I have successfully steamed dresses like yours. I like to steam the solid fabric from the inside and try in an inconspicuous area first to make sure its ok, For the tulle go very light and gentle and keep moving, don't steam in one spot for any length of time, also do a test before going all in. Absolutely incredible dress BTW!

Beautiful dress, so classic and feminine - I could easily imagine Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly wearing it! As others have said, you should be fine steaming it as long as you're gentle and you keep moving. Sometimes, I like to hold the steamer head away from the garment, so the steam gently wafts past the fabric rather than being too close to it.
