Stumped on a Fabric Name!

I have this DIVINE cocktail dress with the Harvey Berin by Karen Stark label. Problem is, I cannot for the life of me find the name of the fabric. Hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.

The fabric looks like flocked satin, but the parts with the raised pile are not glued on, rather it is part of the weave. Here's a picture:

And for fun, here's the whole dress:

Thanks!

Flocked satin sounds pretty good to me, and will certainly appeal to the majority of buyers/viewers. I'm sure there IS a technical name for it, though. Can't say I've ever seen that before.

Darling dress! And I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like it, either.

I agree with Nicole that it must be a jacquard weave, but I've love to see a close up of the flocked area. I wonder if the pattern was made by weaving the pattern in a high pile, then shaving it down mechanically, like a carpet weave, or if it was a chemical process, or what....

I think, though, for practical purposes, you could even call it a "flocked satin jacquard," which would give most folks a really good idea of what you've got.

I think Nicole is right. It looks flocked but I believe the velvet area is woven not applied like a flocked fabric would be. I have had a few dresses with this silk satin and velvet combo. I don't think it's a burnout either for technical reasons. They would first have to loom a velvet with a satin weave underneath (don't even know if they can) then chemically remove the velvet nap from the designated areas. It would be much simpler to do this with a jaquard. BTW the dresses I've had with this type of fabric were VERY high end. (I still have a dress and gown) I think it was an expensive textile in it's day.
