\"Sunny Peters Originals\" Label - homesewn or commercial ?

hi all,

i checked the label resource but didn't find this label.

It says "Sunny Peters Originals" and I'm looking for info/opinions on whether this was a homemade dress and a homemade label or whether this could be a commercial label.

any ideas ??

Offhand it looks like a commercial label, but it is hard to say without seeing the dress itself.

What an adorable dress/jumper. I think it is commercial.

When did they start producing "custom labels" that home sewers could order by mail?? Other than those that just said Made with Love by Grandma.

The first ones of my recollection is 1970s for some Mary Maxim style cowichan style sweaters.

Really cute jumper!!

I am pretty sure that is a homemade tag. See how the name lettering is? That is how to tell. You could get these "custom" labels in a few different styles. Cute dress!

That's darling, and I believe it is commercially done.... I am not 100% sure, but nearly so, that I have seen or heard of this label before. Could be I saw something with a similar name, but I don't think so. That style of jumper was done a lot commercially, and there must have been dress patterns like it, but this piece looks commercially made to me. Can we see some of the innards--that would help a lot!

I wonder if this is like a situation I've encountered where I live. There apparently was a very prolific, talented seamstress in the Baltimore area who custom made things for lots of area people. I've run across her "custom tailored by" tags before (can't for the life of me remember her name right now), in more than one local thrift, and at first assumed this was a commercially marketed label. It wasn't for 2 or 3 years that I figured out this was one woman who simply must have been a well-known seamstress for the regional market.
