Suspender Replacement

I am going to try and replace the 4 suspenders on a girdle, at present they are too short and not adjustable.
So I am thinking should I stay with the 4 or go for 6 or 8 , I have bought 4 pr so I have the option.
I do fancy trying out the 8 suspenders, I know the back one should line up with the back seam, and the front one at present is off set to the outside of the leg to line up with the leg canter , so should the other two new ones be equally space between the two like I have marked in RED?
Is that logical and how it was done. Or should I move the front one more toward the girdle center just a little more.

I did look at C&C and decided there was no common standard or formula, some are space out so differently which got me thinking why that should be so.

I think it really depends on personal preference. I've not had a 8 suspenders on anything but if I did, I'd like to have two at the front on each leg, one at the side and one at the back. I've seen on vintage corsets and girdles where the original owner has moved around the suspenders according to her own preference so it would be period correct to put yours where you need them.
I bought a 6 suspender belt from What Katie Did and wore it to the Leeds fair and found that it held up my stockings well but could have done with another suspender at the front on each leg.

Thanks very much for the info ,interesting to here it is down in the main to personal preference no hard and fast rule, I will have a go with two at the front. Needle and cotton is definably not my strongest area, so it will be a challenge more than usual .

Thanks again, Paul
