Sweater & coat fur collars???

Would appreciate some thoughts on dating this piece and on the fur type. I am headed to look at the fur information next. The bottom of the sweater has that lovely clasp. Unfortunately it is missing a (faux pearl) and two on the clear stones (not sure if they are foil back ??)

Here is the coat, it has a Union tag (no other info)

The first looks like rabbit and the second, possibly mink?? I'm sure someone with more knowledge will come along soon. I love the sweater, by the way, I don't think the missing bits detract in the least.

These both are mink. The sweater would be from the 50s and the coat appears to be from the 60s. Do you have a label in the coat?

I have the same style sweater--minus the label and mink collar--in my personal collection. It has the same turned up cuffs (are there rhinestone "cufflinks" on yours?), and the lace on your collar lines the entire body on mine. This was a very popular 50s style, I think.

The clasp on mine is missing a pearl and a couple of rhinestones, too, and replacing them has been on my to-do list forever (it's very easy/cheap to buy clear rs/faux pearls, through eBay or a place like Pretty Snazzy--http://www.prettysnazzy.com/default.asp?sessionID=938360).

But since I bought the sweater with the missing stones, and continue to wear it that way, I think you will do fine selling yours whether or not you choose to fix the clasp!

Thanks for the site. I wanted to repair the clasp with era related stones. I will go back and look at it.

Coat does not have any other labels besides (Union made tag).

Sweater has pearl cufflinks. Love it and really don't know what type of price points to consider for either one. The hard part is parting with things for me. I get attached!

I actually bought the coat in Wyoming (where I reside), so it might be yours. Thanks. It is in really good shape besides some minor things on the lining. Where is the best place to have fur collar coats cleaned? & on your piece do you remember who it was by (label) or fabric????

You have to remove the fur collar and sew back on.

They both look mink and 50s to me.
