Hello all! I have this sweater dress that I've been pondering over a bit. My first thought was '70s but after thinking about it, it does have a bit of a deco/1930s feel to it. There are no tags and the knit feels acrylic. Perhaps it could be hand knit from a vintage pattern? Any thoughts and help would be great!

Looking forward to hearing what others have to say, I can't help, but wanted to say that I think it's very lovely! I like the panels on the sides. :)

A knitted dress from the 30s would most likely be made of cotton, wool, silk or maybe rayon. Acrylic was invented in 1941 under the name Orlon but I think it became popular in the 50s. But your dress definitely looks 70s with a deco twist.

I think it's late 70s, but as yumyum says, possibly very early 80s. Though the lettuce-edged hem and some other elements look very 70s, the insets and sleeves look more toward the early 80s, at least to me. It's a nicer sweater dress from that general time period than I usually see--very pretty!
