Sweater Guards?

Does anyone know the history of these little works of Art IMHO.

Have they come and gone several times? I know a bit of resurgence few years back started.

Was certain ones sold in higher end stores? I have many in my collection but picked up what I liked basically.

Were they originally only supposed to be worn with cardigans w/o buttons?

Oh my- these are just adorable!
I don't know much about these, I don't think they were as popular in Australia as the USA- but I know when I have seen these in the movies they are on cardigans with buttons as well .
 
That is interesting about Australia. I have many more. I started collecting vintage cardigans so would pick these up.
This possibly should be in the other everything goes forum?
