Symbols on a vintage compact

My mom recently brought back a lot of costume jewelry and such for me from my grandmother's house. I'm curious if anyone knows what the symbols on this compact mean. I'm not sure what the number means, but the label reads "Elgin American 1293."

Thank you! Any idea of an approximate age? I believe the compact belonged to my great grandmother.

I would say late 1950s and just wondering....is that a crack in that mirror or just the way your photo captured it? Not saying I'm superstitious now, but just checking!!!!!

It's unfortunately a crack. :( I found out from my mom last night that my great grandfather was a member of this order and a 32nd degree Master Mason, which is pretty cool. I'm hoping to get the mirror fixed and use this compact!
