Ted Lapidus Tweed Suit

Does anyone know where I can find out more information about this Ted Lapdius suit? I have a ladies tweed suit with a Ted Lapidus Paris (3 lines) label on jacket and Ted Lapidus Paris Exclusivite Boutique on skirt that I am trying to find out more info about. I can't even find the same labels anywhere online to match. The jacket is sort of a military or safari cut and the skirt is what I would call A-line for lack of better description. The labels on skirt and jacket are different yet they clearly are meant to wear together but maybe they were separates??

I have spent hours searching the web and have not seen anything even remotely similar to this suit. I greatly appreciate any help.

Thank you!!!

Here are photos of labels. First is jacket, second is skirt. Also, I just noticed a number on the label of the skirt: 464669.

Again, any thoughts for more specific info are greatly appreciated. I am not really planning to sell the suit but would love an idea on value since I paid $3.00 for the suit.

Thank you!

What a nice find! I remember the Rodeo Drive store.
Here is an iconic photo of the scene inside the NY store, on Fifth Ave. In 1976.

Those are definately 70s labels - can we use them for the label resource? Everything about that suit is typical 76-78ish - herringbone tweed, wide notched lapels, trench coat style belt, flapped patch pockets, Marquis style label text -- I bet the skirt is A-line with an inverted pleat!

Jonathan - you are EXACTLY right! Wow.

I found this on my very first ever trip looking for vintage clothing. It was a Goodwill in a very ritzy neighborhood. I took my phone so that I could look up labels/designers as I shopped. I found enough quickly to know that Ted Lapidus was somebody worth spending $3.00 on. I also found a beautiful Braetan for Bonwit Teller suit same day - I am betting from same person. Someone took very good care of their clothes as they are both in mint condition. My dry cleaner wanted to buy both of them - no sale! :)

That is a great pic of the store! Thank you so much for sharing.

I can get some better pics for label resource...I took those with my phone in poor lighting. Let me know if I should post here or elsewhere. Happy to share.

So anyone...thoughts on value of suit? I am just so curious with my small investment. Want to tell my hubby so he can stop complaining about my new vintage habit!

Again - thank you. I really appreciate.

This is the label image thread:

Thanks so much, for offering to post the label.
Now you're hooked on your new hobby, right?

As to value, suffice it to say that the value fully justifies your purchase, and even more so, with the garments being in such good condition, and so nicely tailored.

Well, sadly, the suit just doesn't fit me right. With great regret it is headed for auction. Thank you again for all of your help. I appreciate.
