Hi All,
I picked this up about a month ago and both my kids (in ther 20's, son and daughter) practically lunged at it when they saw it, but it did not fit either of them.
I don't remember this style when I was younger (hard time remembering a lot these days!!!).

There are no tags, but I'm 99.9% sure it's sheepskin (at first I thought it was a really good Borg but further inspection told me otherwise). Probably white when new. The heavy-duty zipper is by Clix and the drawstrings at hood and bottom are 1/4" thick (may have been replaced at one point).
Do you think it's 60s? Mens, womans (no darts), unisex?

Any help will be most welcome!!!

Thanks,
Deborah

PS - Sorry about the lousy pics - I will be redoing.

Scratch my 99.9% sure on sheepskin. I just had a thought it may be polar bear??? Off to check.

Yes, Jenn, I'm pretty sure. It's not bear though, thankfully. I have an long haired alpaca coat and and when I pull the fibre back (although not as dense as this one) it has the same look. The only way I will know for sure is if I bring it to a fur dealer, as the lining is sewn directly to the jacket all around and there's not a hole to be found (unless I make one). I have to go to the furrier for another coat; so I'll bring this one along.

I'm still in search of a timeline.

Thanks

Deborah

I think there might be a way to tell by a burn test. (take some sheddings off to a lighter and see if it smell like hair burning or synthetic.) Although I'm not sure if that's full proof....?!?

A burn test is a good idea, thank you! If the furrier throws his hands in the air, I may try it!

I am not sure of the date, but the strong brown stripes across the chest suggests to me its late 1970s. I remember velour tops that had strong lateral stripes from then...
