Geometric, interlocking, prong-set pavé (?), rhinestone, multicolor, graduated, gold, taupe, root beer. Just some random thoughts...

Wow, thanks kj. You've just about written my auction description! Do you think 50s?

I think it looks great on that brown dress and would look good on tweeds, etc.

Thanks, Hollis. 50s it is. I will try to post when I get it listed.

I've got a few rhinestone brooches I'll be listing soon too - at least a few of them look very similar from the back - would that be considered a prong setting? Also I've seen a lot of auctions with the term "pot metal" in the description -- ? Does that mean what it implies (to me) - that the metal setting is a Heinz (!) -57 type mixture - whatever got thrown in the pot?!

Sorry to hijack/go OT - I guess I'll have to do a bit of homework before I list mine, but they're so similar to yours I thought I might ride your coat-tails on this one ~

Could be 50's Linda. I'm never positive with jewelry unless it's glaringly obvious.

Carolyn - I'm learning about this myself. I think if there are prongs you can say "prong set". I'm not sure what the backing here is called. I'm only certain about "open back" stones. This site is very helpful and some of the jewelry is just gorgeous:

You can ride my coattails, Carolyn, any ole time. I just usually put that it is a gold tone metal or gold filled... letting them know that it is costume jewelry and not 10 or 14K. The vintage ones like this one and yours are such a nicer quality than the costume jewelry they make today. They are getting harder and harder to find, too. And they are big this Fall and Winter, just like they were in the summer!!

This one has prong settings and they look good and secure. Just checked under my scope. I am used to selling fine gold jewelry but I needed a little help on costume.

I am going to try my best to get this listed tonight but I took over 100 pictures today and am in the middle of cropping, etc. Hopefully, I will get to it, but if not I will start it tomorrow night. Hope I'm not too early on the Fall brooches, cause I think this one is outstanding and just the right size.
