Telsalda Nautical 1960s mens swim trunks - elastic or cord waist?

currently has kitchen string  Also it has a small metal zip finished coin pocket and of course the zip has rusted - I can't get another white fine toothed ring pull one so I was going to leave as is in case a collector bought it, but that means the pocket is not useable of course. Unless any one has one of these zips? Wouldn't it rust again though? or was it intended only to be a sun bathing suit?
I couldn't find anything out about Telsdalda - other than it was revived in the 80's as a children's wear brand. I suspect it is an old knitwear company. The label states they were of London and these trunks were made in Hong Kong.

How long is the zipper. I may have one, but it would be a bear to put in, so you may just want to list as is. The surviving zipper does have a decorative effect.

try a baking soda paste on the zipper. Dab it, let it sit, rinse... might help.

OR straight Vinegar, dab, dab, try to move zipper, repeat.

Hi Melanie, I have had many Telsada garments and have some of their bathers myself.

They were a UK manufacturer from the late 50's/early 60s to the mid 70s from what little I know. Based in Liverpool/Manchester I believe.

The bathers always had white cords.

Thanks Marian, yes I had that thought too - it looks like the zip was sewn from inside the pocket shoot me emoti maybe I'll skip that...

Never thought of attempting to remove the rust! Might be worth a try. Thanks.

That's brilliant Gayle! I wanted to submit a label entry for the resource but really didn't have enough to go on, any chance you can dig up some labels to contribute? (when you're free from work, of course!)
I will go ahead and put some white cord in then.
