for 2 days i have tried to remember what you call this. it is something i have known for years and when i tried to write a description the other day i found out that my brain had decided to boot out that particular piece of knowledge (to make room for useless information i would imagine).

the grosgrain type heavy ribbon waistband with hook and eye to fasten on the INTERIOR of a garment. what is the actual name for this? i hope you know what i mean!

thank you!!

Hang on - I'll see if I can find it in the Vogue Sewing Book.

Here we go - it's called a "Waist Stay."
(yes, I feel dumb)

pg.365 <U>The Vogue Sewing Book</U> c.1970

"<B>Inside Waist Stay</B>: This stay is suggested for stretchy fabrics, sheath or princess styles, or when a skirt is heavier than a bodice."

It goes on to give the instructions on how to do it & there's a pic if you need it, Harriet.
