I ran across this and its tougher than it looks! Pick which two of the following statements are NOT true for 1984. And DON'T cheat by googling!

What DIDN’T Happen in 1984: Only two are not true…

A) Michael Jackson was burned by pyrotechnics while filming a Pepsi TV commercial
B) The AIDS virus was isolated by French scientists
C) The first Apple Macintosh computer went on sale
D) The first cell phone was marketed
E) Marvin Gaye was murdered
F) Cats opened on Broadway
G) Vanessa Williams resigned as Miss America after nude photos of her were printed in Penthouse magazine
H) A leak from a Union Carbide pesticide plant killed 6,000 people in Bhopal, India
I) The Hermes Birken Bag was introduced
J) 36 musicians formed Band Aid to record ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’ to raise money for famine relief in Ethiopia
 
I am going to guess B. (because i think its too early) and H. (because I honestly don't remember that at all) or I. (because it seems too early)

I'm going to go with A) because I think it was 1983 and D) because I think it's a little early.

It sort of scares me that I can remember all of these apart from the Birkin (I agree that '84 seems early but I really don't know) and the cell phone, but Australia is a bit behind with technology (or was then at least). The first cell phone (or mobile as we call them here) that I ever saw was in 1989 but they were around for several years before then.

Still horrified by what happened in Bhopal.

This is true. It was announced in late 1983, and released in 1984.

I would say for false answers, Cats opened in 81 or 82 so that's one of the ringers
 
i already know i'm likely wrong, but just because ...

b (thought it was before '84) and i (ditto, but long before).
 
Before the MAc came out with the unit with mouse and such there was a typewritter looking thing I think the first unit was called Lisa.... I think it was before 84
 
I recently read an article on cell phones (was researching how old my HUGE first cellphone was). The first cell phone was developed in 73 and it took ten years to market them. I'm going to go with

"D" and "F" (pretty sure CATS was earlier 80s, but am guessing on this one).

IF you hadn't said there were only 2 that were not 1984 and IF
I hadn't been curious about my first cellphone that I came across
(it was 90s), I would not have had a clue about "D", or been lucky enough to get the correct two.

They had Apples but they weren't called Macs until 84.
