Okkkkkkkkkkk, here the same dress again. I can't figure out what the heck is going on, STILL! So I've taken some pics out in daylight:

Thanks!

It really honestly doesn't say 60s to me... I think it's extremely pretty and it has some 60s qualities to it, but it's just not quite right for 60s I don't think. Then again, it may look different on an actual person.

I'd say it's more 1980s sloane ranger.

The detail on the top half is absoloutely beautiful, and combined with the colour I think it very elegant. No you need a super stylish lady to come along and buy it to wear at a garden party in the grounds of Buck House. :)

I agree. If it were 50s or 60s I would like to see darts in the bodice and the back closed all the way to the top of the neckline, plus the peplum is standing our from the dress which you wouldn't see much after 1952. If it were sewn to the skirt it would be okay for early 60s but not sticking out like that. I think its 80s doing retro.

I don't know why I'm fighting the 80s thing so much on this :(
Am I just being stubborn? Feel free to kick me in the butt.
I guess it's because of all the weird metal boning on the inside & the pinked seams. Methinks I'm going to take a pic of it inside out & post it tomorrow.

*sigh*
:puzzled:

We would love to see more pics.

If it was made by a better dressmaker, it is still possible to have boning, etc. Seamstresses today can still make things with pinked seams if they feel so inclined. There are tailors in Hong Kong that can still turn out things that you would have to do a double take that it is not 40 years old.

I'm going to have to vote for 80's as well. I remember being in high school back in the 80's and my mom made me a peplum style dress. I actually remember talking about it because the peplum was also the fashion back in the 40s when my mom was in high school. I don't think you see much of that in the 60's

Well, to be safe, I just put "vintage" in the auction title.
Here are some more pics of the inside:

It is elegant.

I'm thinking of the sewing my mom did in the 80s, too, Connie. She started sewing in the 50s, so all of her construction remained the same, including the cutting with the trusty pinking shears. Heck, I've got and use her old, old supply of fasteners.
