I don't know what style this was originally meant to be worn so I've taken a few shots to demonstrate.
Searching for the label reveals several others in the same fur different styles dated 50s but I've never seen this style hat before for that period, maybe once I know how it's supposed to be worn that will confirm when it date's from. I think there is more brim on one side than the other which would suggest it's supposed to be turned up I think. I don't think the crease in the top (the previous owner's) is right though it just crumples it.
The brown band and buttons- both plastic appear to be later additions with large tacking stitches inside - maybe 70's or it could have been as late as this year they look brand new underneath there is a sewn seam so maybe it would have had a matching colour grosgrain band there originally.
Has anybody come across a hat like this before?

Hi,

The hat is made of fur felt, with rabbits being the donors of the fur. I would date it to the late 1960's to early 1970s. I have come across many of this exact same style over the years. Many have vinyl bands as yours does. The brim most definitely turns up, and the way you show in your second photo looks right to me. The hem on the brim edge is turned up, which always indicates a very good clue as how to wear the brim. If the brim was not supposed to turn up, the hem would be turned on the underside where it is not as visible.

Thankyou Babara, that's an excellent tip I shall remember for next time!, could you possibly give you thoughts on the other fur hat I posted recently?
