When I was in Paris recently I attended this fabulous exhibit at the Galliera. If you are familiar with this museum, you know they have wonderful exhibitions but are closed between exhibits.
The Empire of the Crinoline focused on the dresses, accessories, and the fashion industry between 1852 and 1870. It was truly fabulous.
I've just finished an article for Australian Stitches with several photos. Here is the paragraph about the catalog:
If you are particularly interested in this period of fashion history, the exhibition catalog --Sous L’Empire des Crinolines—Musée Galliera-- is a unique and a superb reference. There are small inserts in each chapter which list the exhibited items with their catalog numbers and descriptions as well as the page number if photographs are included in the catalog. The catalog is in French and the cost is 39 euros. The Galliera is located at 10, ave. Pierre Ier de Serbie (75116).
The exhibition will close the end of April. Claire
