The good old days of Ebay

There is a thread on the VC&A board that I've been following about the good old days of Ebay...

I remember when I joined in 1999, I used to get feedback from complete strangers just because I had answered a question about something I was selling! They didn't even bid or win the item! If I had an auction where the reserve hadn't been met, the bidder would always ask what my reserve had been and pay it and even got to leave feedback for that!

Sheesh, none of my auctions has photos as I didn't have a digital camera and then when I started to use the scanner to scan photos, I had to host them on Yahoo Geocities and no one really had their own photo hosting back then.

Got lots of money orders, cash and cheques and then after, Bidpay as Paypal was US only and I was in Canada.

LOL, Ebay was much more relaxed back then!

I remember getting cash tucked in envelopes and EVERYTHING I listed sold, because there were more buyers than sellers.. hmmmm miss that

yep - even in 1998 I sold almost everything, and there were multiple bids.

And I could find good stuff to buy at very reasonable prices occasionally!

I joined March 1998 -- hey! its my 10th anniversary!
-EARLY bidders, not last minutes snipers, were the norm.
-I recall being able to contact someone at eBay by phone or email and getting a response quickly.

I joined 11 years ago as a buyer and got some great deals. My "name" was my regular e-mail address. When I started to sell I didn't have a digital camera, so I would use the 35 mm camera, take it to the store for processing, and then scan in the photos. It took forever.
