shoe picture resized again...if this doesn't work, I give up. lol

Wow, they're very cute.

For future reference: you've already got a thread devoted to these shoes, it's best to post more images to that thread rather than starting a new one, which will split the comments. That's what Anne was referring to when she said "new post", although it may have confused you.

Yes, sorry. By "new post," I meant another post to the same thread, not another thread. And I love the little cutout on the vamp! They're still looking later on in the 40s to me. I had a chance to check our own Jonathan Walford's book, "The Seductive Shoe," open toes & slingbacks weren't invented until 1938. Again, the heels on yours have that somewhat chunky shape and a heel height that I associate with the latter 40s. I have an impression that skin bags and shoes were also quite popular around then.

Fascinating...so these shoes are a post-WW2 style perhaps? I can see that. Would love to hear more, of course. This is so fun.

Sorry for an confusion I might've caused by taking the earlier post literally. Please don't kick me off the Island! lol : )

Took this to my shoe repairguy and he votes - because of the lizard skin and how it's put together around the toe - late 40s. He said the heel could be 30s or 40s but the construction is another story.

vintagebaubles, I'm glad to have confirmed your gut. The guy says certain methods were used then that were used with these shoes. Let's see if any disagrees here. Roblando is human. ha ha

I probably will list them in the next few days and would be happy to let you know when I have.

Don't you just LOVE that red? I had a great aunt by marriage who used to wear shoes that were the same color of her lipstick...red like this was for "dressy." LOVE that red!
