I just spent $16 US!! USD - I'm in Canada :lalala: - here's the kicker - I CAN'T EVEN SEW!!! What the heck is wrong with me lol...OK I do have a 1960s perfectly working Singer and I will be taking a class - but it was like I had to have it...here is a link to another site with a pic of it

Cool huh?

How 'bout you what did you get that you had to have that made you question your own sanity :icon_dante:

Oh it's so cute though! And a good project if you're planning on taking sewing lessons. :) I bought a pair of 'Garbo' shoes by Red or Dead. Quite expensive shoes. Black suede, 40's style - beautiful. My sister and mum have borrowed them but I just don't like wearing shoes that have high heels - just boots!!! Why did I buy them? Cos they looked so purdy! Hey ho. At least my family get to wear them :)

LOL

I think the most I paid for a pattern was around $250...There are several patterns I paid $150-$175 for. There are others that went for a lot less, but I was enforcing my budget at the time, so I didn't bid on them. I'm still kicking myself over some of those.

Patterns are addictive. :)

BTW, that is a CUTE pattern.

Oh yay, I feel much better about it now - that's true new patterns are expensive!

Everything is addictive with me it seems lol - as soon as my Etsy stores are set up and the mess is contained in the room I've taken over (read - I can get to the machine lol) I am going to sew, I can't wait!

I want to make bell bottoms for me - I got the COOLEST kwiksew pattern for bells - Oh my - they're sweet, but I think I'll start with something easier..., and jammie pants for my boy (all his pants will be jammie pants - they're so easy :))and bell bottoms for my girl... ,and sweats for my man...and Christmas stockings, and the angels... Yup it'll be so much fun!! :)

Laura, I almost died when I read your post lol WOW I'm in awe - I get mad they charge me .99 at the Saly Anne in Leduc - robbers (kidding, but it does seem expensive to me :bouncy: - so 16 was like oh my, but I was obsessed with it till I bought it) :cheer:

Thanks again everyone!

That pattern is so cute! When I think what we pay for patterns here (and that's just Burda, don't talk about Vogue, they cost a fortune...) - the price really is ok.

Oh, great, you've got a vintage sewing machine too! I have a ca. early to mid-60s Husqvarna which is just wonderful. It's so heavy that I never move it around. I think machines like this can practically live forever, they're so sturdy.

Thinking about it - I guess my really too expensive vintage buy was a doll for my collection. A Francie doll with the rather rare short flip hairstyle, though her body was partly faded (but her little face was soooo cute and perfect!) and I paid some 250 Euros for her at a Barbie Doll Show in Holland. At the time, the prices for vintage dolls had already started to go down because of the internet, but I was determined to go home with my first Francie doll. Only 5 years later, I found a perfect, correct, un-faded body to switch her head on to. And for that body (which had a wrong head on it), I paid 4 Dollars in a charity shop in Montreal :censored2:.
