Fall Vintage Inspirations takes over the Fashion Parade Route in September
Twice a year, in honor of Spring, and Autumn, The Vintage Fashion Guild's Site Committee works on a project that is uniquely our own: VFG members post their vintage answers to the current season's fashion trends. We call this special project "Vintage Inspirations" (aka "VI").
The VFG has selected the Fall trend categories listed below above all the fashion trends this year, as the biggest 2015 season looks that feature vintage "roots." Each trend will be paraded out in the regular, weekly parade forum-space during the month of September - a different one each week.
Here's how it works: Each VI Fashion Parades features a current fashion trend for Fall that reflects its vintage-inspired fashion roots. Members post genuine vintage items (previously sold, or currently for sale) which may have inspired today's Designer fashion trends.

Victorian Revival
Antique is chic! Victorian and Edwardian influences are all over the runways this Fall/Winter season, with fabulous flounces, delicate laces, high collars and feminine ruffles for the ladies. Tailored dandy looks that evoke this long-gone -- but clearly not forgotten -- era of fashion are a favorite with the gentlemen. Black layered on black is a big trend for men and women, while white ruffles at the collar and cuffs simultaneously lend a fresh and classic option. This week our members share their favorite Victorian and Victorian-inspired vintage with you.

Big Baubles
Grand Bijoux is in vogue this Autumn. The bigger the statement the better in sparkly giant brooches, metal breastplate necklaces, and all other shapes of large and long pendants, chains, ropes of pearls, chunky collars & chokers. The runway shows for Fall/Winter 2015 are filled with chainmail in large scale necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Motherloads of gold are popular this season. Earrings: fringed, dangles, chandeliers, as well as modern, architectural shapes a la the 1990s -- all B-I-G in designer shows. Large, heirloom-style rings in multiples, a highlight, too. Raid Grandma's jewelry box and bring out the vintage bling this Fall.

Haute Rock
Described at Style.com as the New New Wave, some Designer's Fall collections are rockin' with a sleek but carefully curated, hard edge look. 1980s influences from the worlds of punk and hard rock are showing up on models with Siouxsie Sioux eye shadow and electric prints. Black is anything but basic. Loads of leather, black leather jackets, vinyl, studs & grommets, skinny suits & ties, peg leg pants, schoolgirl plaids, fitted blazers, big shoulder pads & puffy sleeves, tall boots & ankle boots, chunky footwear, mini skirts, animal prints in bright colors, sequins and stripes all mix it up together on the catwalk. Get in touch with your Bad Girl/Bad Boy side and let it rock!

Fashion Geometry
Hard to miss on this year's Fall/Winter runway are graphic geometric prints. Reminiscent of mod 1960's fashion and described by Harper's Bazaar as Maximum Impact, these striking designs certainly impact this season's must-haves. With playful circles and sharp angles, these daring compositions look great on maxis, minis, jumpers, outerwear, knits and separates. Bold & bright or black & white -- shape up your wardrobe with this mathematically minded trend.
