The only way to fly...

This is from the Nov. 15, 1940 Vogue It's an ad. Can you guess the product?

The only way to fly is right! A way we'll never see again. It's hard to relate in even a general way air travel as depicted in this ad with the reality of it today.

What product is being advertised? Hmmm... not the plane, not the dog (not a product of course but so chic as shown here!), not the luggage ...

The ladies' (fur) coats?

So-- do I win the first prize of 2 first class tickets to anywhere?

:D

I *love* this kind of ad!!!

I'd guess because the airline name is just visible, it could be their flights. Oh.... want a time travel machine (except the plane was probably pretty noisy to travel in...)

All that seems to be left is - hairstyles! LOL

I love this ad...........no jeans, track suits, trainers, T-shirts - the women look SO classy!!

Well, your guesses are all a bit too obvious! Think there, but hidden;)

I adore this ad. It makes me want to get all dressed up and go somewhere wonderful. But as Margaret pointed out, everyone else would look like they are on their way to the gym.:(

Black & White Scotch? No, there's no white scottie dog. But does it have something to do with the dog?

Um...feminine hygiene products. They are free as birds because they don't have to worry about feeling "not so fresh".

Sorry...but you said it wasn't obvious!!!

Maybe perfume....or some other personal item

I will have to think some more....

Slimmer?
But she isn't, darling!
She's wearing a Parisienne FLEXEES
beneath that travelling costume of hers!

It's a girdle ad!

LOL Brenda - that's really funny!

Lizzie - I'll tell you why the thing being advertised never occured to us -- wearing a girdle on a plane? Please!!

The next time (which will hopefully be never) I'm stuck in the last row of coach on a transatlantic flight I will have to remember to remind myself: it could be worse-- you could be wearing a girdle.

:hysterical:
