The Travels of a Vintage Dress

"the sisterhood of the time traveling dress".. That is a fabulous article.

I have a little girl's dress that has a piece of masking taped to it saying "made for Linda by Grandma 1950." Since that is my name, I never tried to sell it. I do wish when I purchased it, I would have looked more into who "Grandma" and "Linda" were.

What a lovely article to read Jody!

I think for so many of us that love vintage fashion, the
history and wonderings of a garment - who wore it, where was it worn, what was going on at that time, what was
the person like, what were they feeling, etc., etc., is what
makes vintage so enchanting to us.

How wonderful! (It made me tear up, too!!!!) That is a very sweet article.

I almost went to the auction of the Webb museum, Jody. I wanted to go, but just didn't make it. I think I convinced myself that things would sell for too much for resale, and the motel and travel would not be worth it. I take it that I was probably wrong, LOL! Did you buy a lot there that day?

Thanks for putting it on the VFG blog Justine. So often I wonder about where a dress that I'm selling came from, who wore it, etc. This is one time when all the puzzle pieces came together, thanks to the reporter. She sent me a couple of tear sheets of the actual article, which included a picture of Doris. This dress has brought me more smiles than many that pass through my hands.

Oh Jody, that is so cool. That's one thing I loved about that auction - so many things had the provenance. It was a very special event - what an amazing collection.

Speaking of Maine, as Karen mentioned, she'll be here all month. And Kat should be in town as well. I smell a margarita (or four) in our futures! (And the copy of the fur pamphlet is going out tomorrow).
