The V&A wants your photos!

What lovely wedding pictures!

I'm going to send this one to them, I just need to confirm the exact date first.

This was my Aunt Alice's first wedding in 1947. Her husband had survived the war only to be killed in a motorcycle crash soon after the wedding, leaving my aunt a young pregnant widow.

Alice persevered, and is still going strong at age 85.

My grandparents eloped. My mother colored all over her parents photo. My father tossed the photos after the divorce. My wedding was a costume party Wish I could help!!!!

I've posted this for something here before, but here are my folks at their wedding and my mom's sister and brother who stood up for them on January 30, 1941.

I do still have Mom's dress but I WISH I had her shoes, too...and that hat!! sigh!

her dress is that yummy mustard (NOT American mustard, more like an English mustard) color. It's way too small for me now, but I DID wear it to my bridal shower back in 1990.

I was at my storage and the woman who is the 'caretaker' was cleaning out one of the units...the lady had said to toss everything...

There were tons of old pics...but one was of this absolutely gorgeous wedding dress...I would kill to have it!!!

I'm going to see if I can borrow the albums so I can scan some of the fashion...

What an great project! Sorry for poor reproduction here, I don't have a scanner but I was too excited about sharing these to wait so I photographed them. Mum probably won't want them in the V&A but I'll ask.

This is my parents wedding in the, umm, late 50s? I'll have to check with my mum. All the clothes long gone, sadly. I like that I've got a glimpse of her 'going away outfit' as well as her wedding dress.

omg, I just did an initial search and found out they married June 1898. Made me come over all goosebumpy.

I think I'll submit that to the V&A, I've just ordered a copy of their marriage certificate to find the exact date.

that is a very cool photo - I wonder what the cushions were for outside? were they kneeling for some shots? Interesting

I was wondering that. They look like those whatjamacalits you kneel on in church (not that I would know!). She would have been a quaker, so presumably he too, so I don't know if they have any particular significance because of that. Maybe there were group shots with people kneeling in front? This is the only photo I have from that wedding.
