\"The Way We Wore\"

There's always a 'book of the week' reading every morning on BBC radio 4. This week they've had exerpts from an interesting book that has also been featured in some of the Sunday mags.

It's really well-written, and it's a memoir of Robert Elm's (music journalist) personal fashion history - going thru skinhead, glam rock, soul boy, punk etc with minutely, fetishistically detailed descriptions of the elements that he found essential to each look.

The 5 readings are available online to listen to until they're gradually replaced by next week's book.

If you click on the individual days at the left, it opens up the BBC radio player, which runs on mediaplayer, I think.

Really recommended!

There's a short phase in the penultimate episode where he talks about living in Camden Town.

Every day walking down the road he passes exotic goths, punks, glam vagabonds, etc. etc. and it's all down to the first daringly androgynous guys who emulated David Bowie...

It's really good!
