There\'s naked ladies all over my yard!

MADE YOU LOOK!!

The surprise lillies, aka "naked ladies" have bloomed this week, and have stuck around extra-long due to unseasonably mild temps.
This batch is from a spot that I thought I'd dug them all up, since the scaffolding will be coming around soon so we can paint. Guess I missed a few! A FEW!!??

Please, now, sit back and enjoy some floral nudity.

Yes, those are plastic forks in the ground...I'm marking them so I get them ALL this fall. Plastic cutlery is a great plant marker!

Ah ha ... When I first started my business a man came in and asked me if I had any "naked ladies" and I didn't have a clue what he wanted. Makes me think also of the landscaper who wanted 20 "Loves me Not" plants. We finally figured out that his mother always called shasta daisies - loves me not - plants... Loves me ... loves me not.

ohh! we have them here, too now! and ours are lasting longer, as well!

typically ours bloom for only about a week, well, they come up in early spring, die back, then come back up and bloom like crazy! and they smell divine, too!

ahhhh!

i can see why they're called Ressurection Lilies, tho

my dad always liked so say that he had a bunch of naked ladies in the yard...

They usually fade within a few days, but it's been down in the 60s overnight this week, and no more than 85 during the day, plus this batch is in some cast shade with bright light.

These lillies put on some early green, looking almost like daffodils, with a long tongue-tipped leaf. That green fades down to nothing, then all of the sudden a sprout comes up and within 2-3 days you have this 2-3 foot tall stalk with a head of several lillies each. They're not much for cutting, as most lillies aren't, but they're a nice surprise here in the first week of August-every year like clockwork-when the other flowers are starting to feel the heat and fade out.

I'll have to move the remainder of this batch in the fall, I think I'll put them out at my mini-train park project. Rail men like naked ladies! :P

We call them Surpise Lilies.

We also have the red version, Spider lilies, I think?
They don't bloom til almost Sept.
