I don't know if any of you read this article in Nov. Vogue. It is about a young couple who moved to Los Angeles. He is a writer working on his first novel and she is a would-be actress. Well, she spills water on his computer and to make money to replace, she decides to sell her vintage clothing collection. Read about it here...

Oh I saw that!!! I would be shot if I dragged it into the livingroom... How did they manage to get in Vogue?

I just think my dog stole my lunch.... Half a bagel on my desk. Now its gone......

It was nice that they picked people that were not snooty about their stuff.... I htink Iam seein a permanent inclusion of vintage in the high end magazines...Not some trend which has come and gone.

My cat ate drank the chicken broth out of my soup one time when I wasn't looking and just left a bowl with noodles in the bottom, covered in cat saliva.

I do believe Vogue is based in NYC, as are many fashion mags. :D

My apartment sort-of looks like the back room of a store...

I used to sell from my apartment....living room, sun room and dining room (by appointment, of course). Now I call the shop my "home" I sell vintage out of. :headbang:

My first shop was in the double parlour of a Victorian house, in 1967. People thought it was cool to beat on my door at 2;30 or 3 in the morning to go shopping. And collectors used to elbow into my kitchen and try to buy my 'primitive' mixing bowls, dishes, and the kitchen wood-gas range. I once had a woman DEMAND to how much I would take for the shoes on my feet (size 8 Victorian lace ups). Second shop was in a ca 1905 corner grocery with a mission apartment upstairs.

Maryalice, sounds like you have many stories to tell about selling vintage. Bet you could write a book!

One of my favorite vintage moments was my mother giving the Cockettes (a 70s drag show troupe from SF with mondo sequins, long hair and MOUSTACHES....fashion accessory advice. They were debating rhinestone chandelier earrings vs. pearls.

My Vogue-reading mother said 'You just can't go wrong with the pearls....SO versatile!'

PS. We never made it to VOGUE.
