This dress FRUSTRATES me - worth listing?

Ok... I don't even know WHY I bought this one. The fabric intrigued me I suppose. What is it? Why is it SO heavy? Who would wear something like this in the SUMMER being that it's such a thick material? Date? It has a metal zipper at the back. It's also missing it's original belt.
Any help is super appreciated!

That's cute and very striking! If it were me, I think it is cute and different enough to list. I would definitely say it is more of a spring or summer style but it is hard to say what the fabric is without feeling it or more description. There are a lot of warmer weather dresses that aren't cotton.

Most things are more valuable with their original belt, but really that mostly comes down to collectible labels. If it doesn't have a label or is a no name, then what it comes down to is it being wearable without the original belt. In the case of this one, I haven't heard of parade but that doesn't mean much :)

If there are belt loops, than it seems that a solid colored belt or maybe a thick black or white leather belt will do fine. If no belt loops, than a belt may not be as critical. (i do not see belt loops in the picture, and if it were me, I would probably not want to belt it to not inturrupt the design.

I think its cute too and a worthy purchase. The lacking belt doesn't bother me at all with this dress. Sometimes you can tell when the belt is missing and it really spoils the dress but not in this case. You could also match it up with an odd belt, like a red patent leather belt if you wanted to. It looks spring weight to me too and I think you should list that right away. It it perfect for a warm spring day in March, with a cardigan over your shoulders.

Looks late 50s to me

It does has tiny skiny belt loops, so should I throw a belt on it? I can't even guess what the material is, it's rather thick & almost looks woven.

I think it's very nice, I would have easily picked it up as well. Could it possibly be a heavy linen? I've had some linen dresses that must have weighed 5 pounds. I agree it's perfect for spring and I would get is listed ASAP.

Angela,

I just couldn't leave it at the store! I kept going back in forth between, "i love it, i hate it!". I think it's one of those dresses that once I see it on a person, I'd really like it, but as is, on a lifeless manni... Hmmm, I wish I knew heavy linen better to know if it's that.

Hmmm, it's just so hard to say without a close-up and even then it might be difficult. My first instinct was a heavy linen due to the way the skirt drapes and folds, but I've also seen heavy cotton/rayon blends do the same thing.

I think it's a *fabulous* dress, perfect to wear to a 50s do on a cool Summer night... would it be too heavy and warm for someone to dance in? I think it'd make a fabulous jive dress. You don't want something too light and full for jiving in, otherwise everyone sees your knickers when you spin round (as I have sadly learnt from experience! So many 50s dresses I can't dance in until I find matching underwear. LOL!).

love, moons and starrs,

I can easily see why you bought it. I think it's adorable! I would have snagged it without a second thought!!

I have had (and have) quite a few dresses by Parade. I believe they were out of New York but I have never taken the time to research them. In fact, I have a black sequin bolero from Parade sitting on my tile counter right now!! lol

Don't knock your taste! It's wonderful!! ;)
