This is a Man\'s Teens suit, right?

I know it's a man's 3 pc suit in heavy olive green wool, with the tags still attached never worn. I am thinking Teens - 1917? 1919? It's a a rare piece for men. I hardly ever get men's 20s - 30s wear, much less fashionable teens. The high nipped in waist was fashionable in the later teens, right?

And can I call this rare without looking silly?

I don't get much very early men's stuff either but I think this is teens era, possibly very, very early 20's too? The belted jacket reminds me of the women's version of high waisted belted jackest that you see in the late teen's/ very early 1920's.
I would have called it rare too as how many complete men's early men's outfits are found, especially in the condition that yours is in? None. Espeically if 36 pertains to the chest size, that's a pretty wearable size for the modern man as well.

Thanks Lei - 36 is pretty small over here, but I am hoping there is some collector of menswear who isn't too concerned about the size.

I have a guy - but he's a 40. And this is a 36, so it won't even come close. And this 40s is the smallest of the guy forms I have found - I think they make them larger these days!

I just checked out my books, and it appears that as soon as WW1 begins the men's fashions go to that lean youthful look, and it hangs around until 1922ish when the suits finally begin to fill out a bit again (I pity any portly man in this era...). Although Lei is right, with that belt, I think that is putting it into the 1919-1921 period. GREAT suit! If I had found great men's stuff when I started collecting, I would probably have just collected men's clothing, but all I could find were suits from the 1950s and up, and the occasional older item. You should do well with this suit, I would definately call it rare. Years ago, like almost 25 years ago, I owned a brown tweed suit from this era and I stupidly loaned it out to a friend for halloween who lost the jacket.

I must admit I am tempted to keep this one.I expect I shall have ot ponder it abit more. I too like menswear a lot and I don't find it often. There are some other nice suits in the lot - a summer 1920s, a boys teens/ 20s suit, several single breasted 30s suits. All pretty fab. And with the store tags.
