I haven't read through the article thoroughly, but I don't think they have the history. It's a photo print done for the 1939 World's Fair. There was a playsuit set that I was sniped on eBay ten years ago made of the same fabric, and FIT had the same exact suit in their collection.

to show the fabric print better I imagine, however incorrect it may be, the feature is the fabric here not the garment.
