Tilly will be in basic black for the Sturbridge show....

Today I load in for the Sturbridge Show. It took me a while to decide what to dress Tilly (my dress form)in for the event. After mulling over dozens of printed vintage frocks I finally decided to focus on design instead. Perhaps the Charles James exhibit has influenced my thinking.

Tilly will be turned out in this black taffeta party dress with the most interesting skirt design...six gores, each gathered on a single edge, to create a half dozen poufs. A smart bit of pattern engineering don't you agree?

Melody I immediate saw the Charles James influence, and I think that's rather clever! I'm dying to put some pink shoes at the base though :USING:
I LOVE the idea of all those women and their sewing machines with their Engineering Degrees!!!

Lol Linda, I'd never thought about it like that, but certainly after the war a lot more women did have new engineering experience!
