Okay, more stuff from under the floor boards! And more ?'s.

1) Taffeta Gown - 30s/40s? Chantilly-type lace? Would this be worn with a crinoline or underskirt? What is the term for that type of waist/midriff area?

2) Dress - 30's/40s?

3) Embroidered etc. Blouse - 30s? - Would that be considered ribboned?

4) Beaded/sequinned top, I'm not sure at all about the timeline - it looks old - the pearly beads have yellowed considerably.

As always, MANY THANKS!

Deborah

I think your dates are right on. The beaded blouse at the end I really think is 80s. The ribbon effect on that blouse could be called soutache.

(Hope you don't mind. I put a break between your pics so we could see them better.)

They are all lovely and I can see the black dress pics quite well.

Sorry, Chris - I was running ahead of myself...

There is not one label on any of the items.

Evening gown - picture below of side zipper under left arm and gauze overlay with snaps. Not a heavy metal zipper, but black metal.

Evening dress - lightly padded shoulders, metal side (LHS) and back zippers, and two hooks that latch onto eyes of thread at top of sheer area. The belt is missing - one loop for the belt can accomodate a belt up to 1" in width. I'm not sure, but there may have been something attached just below the waist on the LHS of the dress in the middle of the X at one time.

Embroidered blouse - puffy sleeves and lightly padded shoulders.

Sequinned top - fully lined.

Hope that helps. If you need close-ups or anything else, let me know.

Thanks!!!

I have gears? LOL If I do, they certainly need oiling...

I am building up a library, but it is slow going. The only thing I think I'm sure of (my confidence is staggering!), save for the beaded top - and Anne thank you for the 80s tip - is that they are all pre 50's. I've searched online for something that looks like the evening gown with the panel btwn the bust and waist - and I have seen a few where the panel starts right below the bust line, but this one starts several inches below; so my uneducated guess would be 1935ish.

The hemline of the day dress makes me think wartime - so early 40s???

Lace blouse w pouffy sleeves - late 30s?

Okay, Chris - am I getting warmer?

Deborah

The first one - later 40s, the second dress - late 40s, early 50s, the blouse - later 40s /50s, and the last blouse- definitely 80s.
