To sew or not to sew???

I just had this adorable linen embrodiery dress cleaned, the label came off.

Is it better to pin the label to the dress or just repair by sewing it back on?

I always worry about altering things (probably too much).

Any thoughts??? I probably will opt to just stating what happened but just curious.

I probably wouldn't have bothered mentioning it in the past but now that some sellers are sewing in designer labels into non-designer clothes its better to be up front so as to avoid any suspicions that the label was taken from another garment, so yes, sew it in and disclose.

Thanks for your feedback. That was my hunch about items that don't have tags. Disclose...disclose

When you first started selling vintage online did you ever feel that you over described things?

That has been my challenge with vintage because I want it to be better than ice cream fro my clients!!! Sometimes I read what I describe and wonder if I am trying too hard to describe. :clueless: "Everything in time!"

Several years ago, I met with Kerry Taylor (Sotheby's London). One of the things she told me was that where and how a label is sewn is one of the guides she uses.

With that in mind, I would photograph the label on the garment before sending it to the drycleaner. When it is returned, you have a record of how and where to sew it.

You also have a record that you sent it to the drycleaner with a label. Claire

Claire,
I love that!!! I wish I would have thought about that.
Really makes sense as to its authentic nature. D
