Too many questions, too little time!

Hi All,

I need some help with dating on lots of stuff I've been ignoring because I'm not totally sure of it. Any help that can be given would be greatly appreciated! Also, information regarding labels would be helpful as well. Thanks!

First this Lee Claire, NY gown with matching shoulder wrap. 60s?

Then there is this purple knit by Barbara Carol, NY. Rhinestone studded buttons on the cardigan. 60's as well?

And, this Jackfin woll ribbon trimmed suit. Skirt is above the knee. I'm getting 70s, how about you?

Last but not least is this ribbon dress with fur collar. When were these made, I have no clue!

I'll post more later. Thanks!

Let me check the I. Magnin thread. maureen had an I. Magnin dress that had the Jack Fin label as the primary label (it was labelled both) and i think it ended up on our mystery labels thread because we couldn't find anything more about Mr. (or Mrs Jacqueline!) Fin. I think the garment she had might have been 50s or 60s with that same label.....can't remember. I see how i would get a 70s vibe from the ringed collar and cuffs but wondering if it is not indeed slightly earlier.

A few more photos.

First this printed shift with belt. I'm guessing 60's again and I think it's a silk shantung but need to do a burn test on it to be sure.

This one I would think 50s. Do we call this a bubble skirt? What keywords would anyone suggest?

I think someone had the twin to this dress but I can't find the thread. It is an R & K Original, I'm sure it must be 50s.

And, last but not least this Trulie Young Creation. Late 40s or 50s?

No trouble at all. i am guessing the last one is 50s. Linda just had a dress with the embellishments with that placement too.

on on the bubble skirt i have heard balloon used more often ...but maybe both?

I have a 1958 Vogue that shows dresses like your 'bubble' skirt one and
they were also called lantern skirts (this was a new one on me, as I have always thought of them as bubble or balloon).

I would say the last three dresses are 50s, the blue Lee Carol one is gorgeous, and I don't have a clue! The ribbon dress and coat I would place at late 50s (or maybe even 1960).

Sue

Thank you Sue. My sense on the ribbon dress is more 60's but I can't for the life of me tell you why I think that. I'd rather be a little conservative on the dating anyway.

Thanks for your comments and help!

The woolmark was introduced in 1964, so give or take a year or two, the purple knit outfit would pre-date it.
