I was listening to a radio show this afternoon while packing up for the Long Beach Antique Flea Market -- and they were talking about this:

Apparently - in 1981, after seeing the original Indiana Jones movie, several 12 year old boys were inspired to try to recreate the entire movie, scene for scene.
Mind you -- this is well before there were videos of the original to watch & copy.
It took them seven years -- but they finished it.
These days, it can't be shown for money (often used for fundraising) and there's a movie in the works about the boys who undertook such a project.
BUT -- it is on a small tour. I JUST MISSED the one here (I'd have gone if I'd known about it!) but maybe it's not to late for you! Click on "Screenings" to see if it's playing near you -- and let me know how it is!
