Tracey is a big fan of McCardell and will be wearing a dress from my site (yay!) and some others she has for the upcoming Council of Fashion Designers of America coming up shortly. Some of the designers may even do some McCardell inspired pieces for her to do a few changes throughout the show! Sadly its not televised but I'm sure there will be pics online afterwards.

You can also vote for the first time for your own favorite American Fashion Designer, online here

Looks like the site, cfda.com, has a section for images from the show so we can expect to see some vintage McCardell there soon!

Well Tracey is just too cool. Is it going to be that black dress with bows from your site Ang?

I love Tracey Ullman - I remember watching her on British TV when I was kid, doing comedy on Three Of A Kind with Lenny Henry, and then her 80s pop star stint, before she went state-side and became such a success. She was so funny. I hardly know what she does over there though - we don't see her anymore!

Sure, Sandra! And yes, Maggie, its the black one with the bows at the waist. I also just hooked her up with a seller I know who had a similar one in red with a little different waist treatment and a sash/scarf wrap thing...really unusual and iconic McCardell.

I think its fantastic she's wearing (and talking about!) vintage to a design show honoring modern designers. She mentioned to me that many of the designers she knows draw inspiration from McCardell and she is highly regarded in the current industry.

Ang,
thanks!
I also think it's fantastic she is bringing vintage fashion to CFDA. So many designers fail to either look at fashion history, or worst, acknowledge the influence. Some just rip it off. These are very exciting times in vintage fashion.

Now I'm wondering if it is time to put my Claire McCardell up for auction. I'm always afraid to give up such collectible garments. It's the only one I've ever owned and probably ever will.
