Hi All,

I know the era of this dress and the history of the maker. I cannot show you all the labels because they are so faded the camera wont pick it up... but, this dress is from the 70s, it is 100% cotton.Very tunic like, but is also a perfect A line in many ways, with a Mandarin collar.

To me, this is a faux smock dress, since the shirt is really just part of the dress. But man... finding info on a smock dress is... *shakes head*

Can you help me describe it? Its cotton, the patches are printed. This neckline always gives me problems since you cannot find anything about it anywhere. It is like a Mandarin collar with a low cut but non V neckline.

Just for reference, this is a Tracy Petite, by Sue Brett. They were in business form 61 to 88.

Hi Eli,

Bigger photos will help, and close ups too - I can't see the neckline very well but it looks like a slit in the front?

I can easily date this dress though, as the style and fabric are so distinctive; it was influenced by Holly Hobbie and they were in fashion about 1975-8. I loved Holly Hobbie. It also came out of the Little House on the Prairie (I read all the books of course).

This dress would have been worn loosely, sans belt and it's not so much a smock as a maxi, so I'll put it at the earlier part of that dating, perhaps '75-76.

Eli, I hope you don't mind but your images are so small, I changed them to full images - it will be easier to see them this way.

I still can't see that neckline well though, so can you please show us a close up. Thank you.

Of course that is fine. Here is a better pic of the neckline.

Thanks so much Nicole.

Stand collar works for me!

Wow, Holly Hobby... yup, I see it!

Thanks to both of you.
